"Hi Larry, thank you for your newsletter. It couldn’t have been more timely. I too went on a journey to change my weight. I lost 2.5" on my hips, 1" on my stomach and another 2" around my midriff. Since I have been home, I returned to my pressures and my former eating and exercise regime so I can relate to that milkshake. Yesterday I started a disgusting diet and today I ask myself why? Why is because I WANT this fat taken off but like most people I don’t want to work for it. This morning this quote found its way to me. I think it is appropriate and perhaps one you might want to use for your newsletter:

"If you don't like something change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain." - Maya Angelou

Complaining is something we are all good at. Change is something we fear."

| "If you're happy and you know it, tell your face." - Dave Burchett

What a difference a face makes.

Over the last few weeks I had a chance to see two local hockey teams in action: the Brampton Battalion and the Toronto Marlies. Both were entertaining games where the home team lost 5-4 in overtime but, as usual, a valuable life lesson was also lurking nearby, waiting to be discovered.

Both teams have mascots. The Battalion are represented by a scowling, beret-wearing soldier named "Sarge" and the Marlies boast the lovable, upbeat "Duke the Dog".

So much can be communicated by our facial expression - a smile, a stolen wink or the playful raising of an eyebrow. Can you guess which one of these two mascots had the crowd's attention and affection?

If you're happy and you know it...

...tell your face!

Ask yourself...

  • When do I have the face of Sarge?

  • When do I have the face of Duke the Dog?

  • Which do I prefer?

  • Which do others prefer?

"If I were two-faced, would I be wearing this one?" - Abraham Lincoln

"I never forget a face, but in your case I'll make an exception." - Groucho Marx

"Most smiles are started by another smile." - Frank A. Clark

Then Jesus asked them, “Would anyone light a lamp and then put it under a basket or under a bed? Of course not! A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light will shine." - Mark 4:21

Let your light shine!
