When, God, When? Learning to Trust in God's Timing

by Joyce Meyer

"I want you to be encouraged that in God's time you will see the dreams and visions that God has given you fulfilled. If He has placed a certain call on your life, He will fulfill it in His timing. Cooperate each step of the way and remember that the call, the anointing, and the separation to the call can occur over a span of many years. Be faithful in all the little things. Your times are in His hands."

| What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. - Hebrews 11:1

"But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed." - Habakkuk 2:3

In my office window sits a goldfish plant, named for its flowers that look remarkably like little goldfish. When I received it the plant sported a single flower, but it fell off shortly after its arrival. The plant still carried the promise of bearing flowers, but it stayed bare for months.

While I tend to that goldfish plant daily to give it every chance to thrive and bloom, I am powerless to make flowers appear any sooner than God intended. No amount of effort on my part can rush His timing. All I can do is make sure that I do my part and wait patiently for God to do His.

When God gives me a promise I get excited and want to see it realized right away. I have often tried to make it all happen by myself, but that's not the way God works. He keeps me going with a vision of the promise, but also reminds me that He is the source of blessing, not I.

I'm confident that God will honor the promises in my life, as long as I continue to do my part and patiently, faithfully, wait for Him to do His. How can I be so sure?

In my office window sits a goldfish plant, with no less than a dozen flowers in full bloom. All in God's time.
